Mariah May has revealed that she was directed by AEW to stop kissing Mina Shirakawa and AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm.
Mariah May opens up on the matter
Speaking on the Wrestling with Freddie podcast, May revealed the backstage reaction to her kissing her long-time tag-team partner Shirakawa during an episode of AEW Dynamite. She said that it was not pitched and it was unplanned:
“It was not pitched. We just did it. Mina and I are extremely close. We’ve always been very close in Stardom. We just did it. The next time around, they were like, ‘Hey, can you guys stop kissing?’”
Mariah May added that it’s her choice who she kisses and she would express if she was not comfortable. Mariah May, who is going to challenge Toni Storm for the Women’s World title at All In, stated that she was told that kissing Mina was setting women’s wrestling back. She said:
“‘Oh my God. This is setting women’s wrestling back so much.’ It’s like, first of all, no one made us do it. We chose to do it… Like I said, if I don’t want to do something, I won’t.”
May and Mina have shared a kiss on multiple occasions. The duo also shared a three-way kiss with Toni Storm at AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door after Storm successfully retained her title against Shirakawa. Storm and May had previously kissed on AEW Dynamite.
