Should WWE Book CM Punk For Bash In Berlin 2024?

CM Punk shocked the fans when he returned to WWE  last year. However, he was soon stopped in his tracks after suffering a tricep injury. He recovered before schedule and competed against arch-rival Drew McIntyre with Seth Rollins serving as Special Guest Referee at SummerSlam PLE earlier this month. He suffered a defeat against ‘The Scottish Warrior’ but that’s all in the past.

Now, fans are looking forward to the upcoming PLE as WWE will be heading to Germany for Bash In Berlin PLE on August 31st. However, it is to be noted that CM Punk is not on the card yet. Though there is still time for him to get added to the show, he might not be on the card whatsoever.

Long buildup benefits CM Punk-Drew McIntyre feud

A Hell in a Cell match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre is reportedly in plans for WWE Bad Blood in October. Punk is currently not advertised for Bash In Berlin but he is booked for several Raw appearances throughout August. That might be due to building up a rematch between him and Drew McIntyre leading up to Bad Blood.

Punk and McIntyre had been involved in an intense rivalry for months before colliding in the squared circle at SummerSlam. They could pull off something similar for Bad Blood as well. However, WWE could catch the fans off-guard and their match could be a last-minute addition to the show. WWE hasn’t confirmed their match yet but one thing is for sure we will get to witness McIntyre and Punk battle once again soon.

CM Punk is a top star in the company but his injury put him on the shelf for several months. He is a major draw for TV ratings and WWE needs to utilize his presence wisely. Keeping him away from the card and saving Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk II will be a smart decision to make. But you never know, what WWE has in store.

CM Punk vs Seth Rollins at Bash In Berlin looks unlikely

It is to be noted that Seth Rollins and CM Punk have had a tumultuous relationship. ‘The Visionary’ was irate when Punk made his return to the company at last November’s Survivor Series. Even at SummerSlam, Punk got distracted when Rollins wore Punk’s wristband, having the names of Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, and their dog, Larry. This cost him the match against McIntyre.

Reports suggest that Rollins will be out of action indefinitely after he was written off with an injury angle. It is unlikely that Rollins will compete at the show and thus it rules out a potential match between the two at the show. So if WWE doesn’t go ahead with either of the matches, then Punk might be kept off the show.

Announced matches for Bash In Berlin

A couple of matches have been already announced for the show. The newly-crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther will face Randy Orton for the title. ‘The Ring General’ was interrupted by ‘The Viper’ on last week’s Raw and the latter demanded a shot at the title after a controversial ending to their King of The Ring final match. Randy was controversially pinned in that match which led to Gunther earning a title shot against former champ Damian Priest at SummerSlam.

Meanwhile, after successfully retaining his WWE Undisputed title against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes picked Kevin Owens as his opponent. While ‘The Prizefighter’ didn’t believe he deserved a title shot, ‘The American Nightmare’ convinced him on last week’s SmackDown.

We will now have to wait and see which direction WWE wants to go with CM Punk.
