Former WWE Champion The Miz has revealed that he loves being a heel and draws negative reactions from the fans. However, it impacts his merchandise sales.
The ‘A-Lister’ has portrayed a heel gimmick throughout the majority of his career. His exemplary mic skills and in-ring prowess have earned him the status of one of the all-time greats. While his babyface hasn’t been lackluster in previous years, he thrives as a heel. He is currently a babyface and teams with R-Truth. They recently dropped WWE Tag Titles and they compete on Raw.
The Miz loves being the bad guy
Speaking on a recent interview with Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About?, The Miz said that he enjoys being booed by fans. The former WWE Champion highlighted that being a heel affects his merchandise sales which goes low and further affects his contract negotiations. He said:
“I love being booed. It’s crazy that some people don’t like it. The only thing I don’t like is maybe my T-shirts don’t sell, right? My merchandise doesn’t sell, and that’s a big thing when you’re negotiating contracts and stuff. It’s like a big metric, and it’s like, well, I’m a bad guy. My job is to make them hate me so much that they don’t buy my T-shirts and stuff. But you want them to buy your T-shirts but can’t stand you, right? So, I mean, I like being a heel. I like being a bad guy.”
The Miz also said that his current babyface role is due to R-Truth’s influence. He showered praise on his tag team partner and said that his funny, charismatic, and entertaining nature helps him getting cheered by the fans. He said:
“But the only reason I am a babyface right now is because of R-Truth. R-Truth just makes anyone he’s around, like, the biggest babyface. Because he’s just funny, charismatic, entertaining, and just fun to be around.”
