Du Plessis, who clinched the 185-pound gold against Sean Strickland via a split decision victory at UFC 297 in January this year, will be making his first title defense against Adesanya, the former two time champion who was dethroned for the second time by Strickland at UFC 293. UFC 305 will feature, for the first time, two African-born fighters in a championship clash.
